Busy May

Kurumoch International Airport has tabulated the results of its business activity for May 2010. For the month, domestic passenger traffic exceeded 20%, whereas international traffic increased more than 60% compared to May 2009.

A total of 139,962 passengers were handled by the Airport in May 2010, which is an increase of 33.1% when compared to the same prior year period. The number of passengers recorded on domestic and international flights (both scheduled and non-scheduled) rose by 20.3% and 61%, respectively.

Recent Airport’s statistics released have shown a sharp rise in passenger numbers travelling between Samara and Moscow, Tel-Aviv, Prague, Yerevan, and Tashkent.

Also enhanced was the frequency of flights to the existing summer sun destinations, among which are Antalya, Monastir, Hurghada, and Sharm el-Sheikh. Starting May 2010, Kurumoch Airport’s summer timetable has featured a number of new holiday destinations from Samara, including Spain, Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Montenegro and Croatia.

Together with the passenger traffic through Samara Airport, other figures have also increased recently. Here is a detailed background: in May 2010 the Airport recorded 1,640 aircraft movements, representing a 17.1% increase over the same period last year. In terms of maximum take-off weight (MTOW), it totaled 110,938 tons, which is an increase of 14.1% over the level recorded in the comparable prior year period. Cargo activities (including transit) have also achieved positive results with a 38% increase, with cargo and mail amounting to 290.9 tons this May.

Such carriers as “UTair”, “Orenair”, “S7 Airlines”, “Avianova”, “Aeroflot - Russian Airlines” showed the most considerable increase in the figures of May 2010. Kurumoch International Airport together with air carries are constantly striving to widen their route network as well as to increase the frequency of flights on the existing destinations.
